Wade Lyons has dedicated his life to public service, mentorship, and advancing safety in both the public and private sectors. Raised in Houston, Texas, Wade excelled in sports before finding his calling in law enforcement during a ride-along as a college senior. That experience sparked a career with the Austin Police Department, where he served in diverse leadership roles, culminating as Training Division Commander overseeing all operations for the city’s recruiting and training academy. His approach has always been rooted in fostering trust, engaging communities, and ensuring officers and civilians alike feel valued and prepared. In 2024, Wade transitioned his expertise into the private sector, founding Black Onyx Investigations, LLC. As CEO, he leads the company in background investigations, security operations, and the development of executive protection services. Beyond business, Wade is a passionate advocate for professional growth, often sharing his experience in law enforcement training, recruiting, and leadership development. Wade is a graduate of Texas A&M University (B.S. in Community Health) and Lamar University (M.S. in Criminal Justice, MBA in progress). His continuing education includes the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, FBI-LEEDA’s Command Leadership Institute, and certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Outside of work, Wade is committed to personal growth and discipline, pursuing natural bodybuilding, Jiu-Jitsu, and scuba diving.
